Welcome to my EDIT 760 blog! My name is Angelica Estero and I am in my second year of the LTS Program through George Mason. In this blogpost, you will learn a little bit about my professional and personal self.
My Professional Self
- I am a first-year School Based Technology Specialist (SBTS) at Lynbrook Elementary School
- I taught second grade for seven years for Loudoun County Public Schools
- I led and co-led an after school STEM Program, PROPEL, with fourth and fifth grade students
- I love teaching students about digital programs and softwares that they can use to help support their learning and will inspire them to be creators and critical thinkers
- I received my Bachelor's from the University of Mary Washington and my Master's from George Mason University
- I am currently working on getting my second Master's at George Mason University
- I have finished the DDLS program and am working on the BOLS program this year
My Personal Self
- I was born in the Philippines and moved to Virginia when I was seven years old and have lived here since then
- I love traveling everywhere - Greece has been my favorite so far!
- I have a five-year-old goldendoodle named Oshie
- He is named after Washington Capitals TJ Oshie
- He joined our family after the Capitals won the Stanley Cup in 2018 so the name was fitting
- I love spending time with my family
- I am a foodie and love eating, cooking and trying all sorts of food
I'm looking forward to what this year has in store both professionally and personally!
It is awesome to "reconnect" with you in this fully online way, Angelica! I remembered that you had a dog, but I did not remember his name was Oshie! Your blog highlights the ways that multimedia can add engagement and interest. As we learned in EDIT 782, images and video can convey and enhance a message, when purposefully selected. With online learning, opportunities to provide students to promote social presence (their ability to feel real in the online environment) are essential. This was the purpose of the initial blog assignment.
